Hey,

I suppose I should start by saying I am one of the coordinators for this years' Learning School. I am a bit of a LS veteran, having just finished up with Learning School 12 before starting this job. Last year I had the media role of the group, which was very interesting and rewarding (as well as stressful at times!). I am excited to have a different role with this years' Learning School, although it comes with the added responsibility of trying to steer the ship!

While I had my reservations about undertaking a second year of Learning School (mainly due to exhaustion levels while trying to finish last years' DVD), it was really just too tempting an offer to pass up! To be given the opportunity to travel the world, meet so many interesting people, participate in a unique piece of research, and live / work with a group of interesting young people; it's amazing to have the opportunity to do it once, let alone twice. I would like to say that my previous experience will allow me to accurately predict the inevitable challenges we will face, but if there's one thing I've learned about Learning School it's that you can never fully predict what will happen (read: earthquake!). But as a group we will learn to adapt, and built the universally useful skill of 'rolling with the punches.'

Aside from travelling, my interests lie in a mainly artistic direction. I very much enjoy film making and video editing; a career which I hopefully will find my way towards in the future. I also enjoy film watching & analysis, sculpture, cooking, costume making, drawing, and playing the piano. I am not so good at anything which involves heightened balance or coordination, so think very carefully before inviting me ice skating or anything! I may very well injure myself and / or others.

I can't think of anything else particularly interesting. I have a diverse (and quite random) range of topics which I am interested in, including: the films of Tim Burton, architecture, German Expressionism, retro Nintendo games, abandoned buildings, Art Deco design, film scores & posters, Twin Peaks, surrealist art, subway systems, and the Titanic.

I am very excited about what lies ahead in our year of adventure. As Doctor Sam Beckett would say: "oh boy..."
